NGC 6823 and Sh2-86 - star forming in the constellation Vulpecula (the Fox)
The young open cluster NGC 6823 is located in the small constellation Vulpecula. The hot stars of the cluster ionize the surrounding hydrogen gas to glow, forming the emission nebula Sh2-86. Inside the nebula new stars are still forming but they remain hidden behind the dense gas masses.
