Constellation Chameleon with molecular clouds
Finally we have an image of the constellation Chameleon from the Chameleon Observatory :-).
The small inconspicuous constellation lies near the southern celestial pole and reaches only an height of about 30° in Namibia. The whole constellation is crisscrossed by molecular clouds of the so called Chameleon complex. The complex belongs to the nearest star forming regions and contains several hundred stars inside the clouds. Some bright massive stars create small reflection nebulae in the dark clouds, e.g. IC 2631 or Ced 111.
In the annotated image we have somewhat clarified the chameleon in the sky with our logo.
