False Cross
Beside the true constellation Southern Cross there is a very similar constellation a bit west of it, the False Cross. The four stars are only a little bit fainter than in the true cross and can lead to confusion during twilight. The false cross is not an independent constellation, it is formed by 2 stars of the constellation Keel of the Ship (Carina) and 2 stars of the constellation Sail of the Ship (Vela).
