B 86 and NGC 6520 - Dark cloud and star cluster in the constellation Sagittarius

The open star cluster NGC 6520 and the small, dense dark cloud B 86 form an interesting double against the background of the Sagittarius star cloud. Most of the stars are located in the so-called galactic bulge, a region of stars around the center of our Milky Way. The density of stars along the line of sight is so high that no celestial background is visible behind it.
The small dark nebula B 86 stands out against the stars. This nebula may be the remains of the molecular cloud from which the neighboring star cluster NGC 6520 was formed
